Brief tour Description

The 7-day Africa safari involves a gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable national park, a community visit so you can learn about the Batwa people of Uganda and their unique culture, also a great water tour in a canoe while on Lake Bunyonyi in South-western Uganda, island hoping as we experience islands of Bunyonyi, with a unique scenery of the islands that will keep you excited during your trip, the calm clean waters that are free from bilharzia, hippos, and crocodiles truly if you’re a swimmer you definitely want to enjoy a swim in these calm haven, a home of very small birds, community visit will also leave you rejuvenating with a thing or two to learn from your safari. Day 1: Airport pick up

You shall be welcomed and picked up by our guide upon arrival at Entebbe international airport and transferred to the hotel for an overnight stay at the Airport guest house. However, some activities may be suggested in case time allows between arrival and dinner time based on the client’s preference.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up to an amazing morning breakfast and head to Masaka on your way to Bwindi impenetrable national park where you shall have a stopover at the Uganda equator crossing Kayabwe for an amazing and exciting photo shoot, water experiments can be made to justify the geographical separation between the southern and northern hemispheres, later head to Igongo cultural center 12 kilometers before Mbarara town for a traditional lunch, why not try some local food to add up the experience? Have dinner and an overnight stay at Rushaga gorilla camp.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking

After your breakfast and with packed lunch, go for a briefing by the park guide at the headquarters about gorilla trekking and then hike into the forest in search of the fascinating mountain gorillas. Get a chance to look at their deep rare eyes and their way of feeding among other interesting features about the ancient apes that are endangered in the world. Gorilla trekking may take up to 8 hours depending on the weather and where the gorillas are at that particular time. Bwindi features a minimum of 400 mountain gorillas of which 12 groups are habituated for trekking. There are 4 regions from which the trek is done that is; Ruhijja, Buhoma, Nkuringo, and Rushaga. Have dinner and stay at Rushaga gorilla camp.

Day 4: Batwa Trail and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Enjoy your morning breakfast and let us embark on an amazing community visit that is a forest walk within the Batwa community, the famous pygmies with an exciting way of life and have been considered to be an endangered people who will soon come to extinction from  the world, therefore, we observe the people and their culture  later transfer to Bunyonyi where you shall have a beautiful scenic view of Kabale as you drive through the Kigezi highlands, the cool temperature have awarded this area “The Switzerland of Africa” because of its resemblance to the Swiss alps, have lunch and Main destination: Lake Bunyonyi

Day 5: 29 Island hopping Water Boat View and Swim in the Lake Bunyonyi

Enjoy a hearty breakfast from your lodge and off we go for a water boat experience on the second deepest lava damned lake in Africa with its 29 islands all these islands are open to us for viewing and so we take a ride exploring the island by hopping on to the island to learn the history of the island, numerous birds shall be viewed like the black rump button quail, cattle egrets among others, enjoy your exploration, especially the punishment island that is coupled with a horrific story, an island that harbored girls that got pregnant before marriage and left to die there on the island but for all good, this is not a practice that is carried on anymore. Take wondrous photos of the lake there is peace and quiet this will help you relax enjoy lunch and feel free to take a deep dive in the lake Bunyonyi a lake that is bilharzia free and no hippos or crocodiles in here. Have dinner and an overnight stay at Bunyonyi rock resort.

Day 6: Morning No Engine Canoe experience and Community visits/cycling (select 2 options) 

Enjoy your cup of coffee and enjoy a 1-hour ride paddling with local engineless canoes which are made by the locals through digging into large trees to create a depression using axes to create a depression. The canoes are moved using rowing sticks or motor engines, this time we will be moving our canoe using rowing sticks and the company of a local canoe rider enjoy your lunch later and we go for a community visit taking a walk to observe how the local people go about with their daily lives near the shores of the lake. It is great to mingle with the locals and try out tasks like digging the garden with local hoes The Bakiga love taking amarwa and obushera two potent drinks made from bananas and millet/sorghum local brews that describe their social life Or visiting one of the local schools to interact with the school children.

Day 7: Transfer to Entebbe

Drive to Entebbe airport depending on the travel ticket which marks the end of the safari.

It is not possible to ‘reserve’ gorilla tracking permits. Therefore we can only purchase them only after you have booked and the down payment is made.

The bookings with the lodge mentioned in the itinerary depend on availability. Reservations will only be made after your booking. Just in case the hotels listed are fully booked during the requested period, we will let you know and then book a hotel of the same standard for you

Transport

Our standard safari vehicle offered for budget and mid-range tours is a 4wd Safari Van with a pop-up sunroof with each passenger can have a seat near a window.

If you wish to up things a bit and get an even smoother ride, then you can opt for an upgraded vehicle for your travel. For this, we use a full-size 4wd Toyota Land cruiser

Travelling with 1-4 people is often preferred and suitable for African safari because of the terrain besides that, it is an elevated durable and pop-up roof that will reward you with a great view.

We also have 4wd Extended Toyota Land Cruiser Travelling which seats 5-6 people and is spacious, elevated, and strong with a pop-up sunroof for exceptional views and a fridge inside to keep our drinks cool.
